Unknown to him, the three are nuns in street clothing who want to aid the community but are afraid the local residents might be reluctant to seek help if their true identities were known. DVD - ELVIS PRESLEY CHARRO

(original 1960s colour film with Elvis Presley - he stars as an outlaw with a conscience who tries to break free from the clutches of a notorious gang, His former partners-in-crime seek payback, as well as a cannon which everyone seems to want to get their Hands on
This western saga finds Jess Wade (Elvis Presley) as a reformed gunfighter who is stalked and captured by his former band of outlaws. Vince (Victor French) is the heavy who orders Jess' cheek to be branded with a hot iron. The gang terrorizes a small town by threatening to use a gold-plated and jewel-encrusted Mexican cannon on the innocent population. Presley sings only one song (the title track) in the last dramatic role of his career. The feature has the look and feel of the popular spaghetti westerns of the time.
Plot
Elvis Presley plays Jess Wade, a former member of a gang lead by Vince Hackett (Victor French). Hackett's band steals a national treasure, a gold-plated Mexican cannon used by emperor Maximillian against popular leader Benito Juárez valued at $100,000 American dollars. The Mexican army offers a $10,000 reward, giving a description of one of the supposed gang members that could be recognized by his beard and a scar on his neck.
Jess returns to a small town he used to pass by. At a saloon he finds Tracey Winters (Ina Balin), a former love. Hackett decides to incriminate him as the robber because Jess meets most of the wanted poster's descriptions. They find him in the saloon and take him to the desert, where Hackett uses a hot brand to mark Jess's neck and complete the description.
With the Mexican army looking for the robber and the U.S Cavalry collaborating with them, Jess travels back to town. He visits the sheriff, Dan Ramsey, to make claim his innocence.
Arriving at the saloon is Billy Roy Hackett, Vince's brother. He starts a rumble with Jess that ends up with the sheriff being shot by Billy Roy while trying to intervene. Billy Roy is incarcerated, with the threat of being hanged if the sheriff dies. Ramsey requests that Jess watch the jail.
Vince gives an ultimatum, demanding Jess set Billy Roy free or else he will begin firing on the town with a cannon. Vince's gang starts by hitting Dan Ramsey's house, causing his death after the roof falls over him.
Ramsey's widow and the rest of the town people ask Jess to release Billy Roy. Jess locks the office and takes Billy Roy out by the back door as the mayor and citizens enter by the front. He goes to a hill where the cannon is located and begins a shootout against the gang, killing most of the Vince's men.
Jess leaves Billy Roy tied up against a tree. The cannon rolls downhill, killing Billy Roy. Jess then returns the cannon to Mexico. He also takes Vince, to be judged.
[edit] Soundtrack
The soundtrack songs were recorded in November 1968 at Samuel Goldwyn Studios in Los Angeles, California. As Charro! was not a musical, only the title track was used in the film and released in conjunction with the movie (it appears on the B-side of the single Memories)

Lieutenant Ted Jackson (Elvis Presley) spends his lat day on active duty in the Navy disarming an underwater mine. While disarming the explosive he sees what appears to be a sunken ship. Overcome with curiousity, he investigates and finds a treasure chest filled with what he thinks are Spanish gold coins. He decides to investigate the vessel by asking Jo Symongton ( Dodie Marshall), the granddaughter of the ships owner, to show him the manifest. After Ted reviews the sunken ship's manifest, he is convinced that the ship was indeed carrying a treasure. Ted gets his release from active duty in the Navy, then convinces his former business partner Judd Whitman ( Pat Harrington) to help salvage the treasure. Ted finally persuades Judd to chip in a thousand dollars to pay for equipment, but the still lacked some of the necessary equipment. They offered a local shop keeper Captain Jack (Frank Mc Hugh) a share of the treasure if he agreed to let them use his equipment and agree to help them during the salvaging opperation. Jack agrees, but as soon as he gets on board the boat Ted rented, he breaks down because he is afraid of the sea. Ted is disappointed at first because they need three people to salvage the treasure. Judd decides to solve the problem by inviting Jo to come along and help them. Judd's decision did not please Ted because he didn't want Jo to know the reason he had for asking her to show him the ship's manifest. When Ted told Jo that his real reason for wanting the manifest was to confirm that the ship was carrying treasure she became upset with Ted for being greedy. Ted became frustrated with jo for not wanting to co-operate, but soon found that he had other problems too. Two adventure seekers Dina ( Pat Priest ) and Gil ( Skip Ward ) had followed the small boat and became curious about what the trio was up to. Gil quickly figures out what Ted and the others were up to, so he pretends that their engine's power cable burned out so Ted will have to tow them into port. Once back in port, Gil finds Captain Jack and convinces him that Ted is trying to steal a salvage that really belongs to Gil and Dina. Jack was taken in by Gil and decided to take the salvage equipment away from Ted and instead rents it to Gil. When Ted found out what happened, he tried to tell jack the truth, but Jack decided that the best way to handle the situation was to refuse to let either one of the men use the equipment. Discouraged, Ted drives out to Jo's house to ask her to help him convince Jack that he is the not a greedy thief. Judd had already convinced Jo to help them salvage the treasure so Jo agreed to try to explain everything to Jack. While Ted, Judd, and Jo were on their way back into town, Gil and Dina kidnapped Captain Jack and steal his equipment. When Ted reaches town and finds Jack, the equipment, and Gil and Dina's boat gone he pursued them along with Judd and Jo. When they reach the boat, Dina and Gil are diving for the treasure. Jack apologized for not believing Ted and agrees to help him. Ted manages to defeat Gil in an underwater scuffle then brings the treasure up himself. Ted, Jo, Judd, and Jack take the treasure to a coin collector to find out how much it is worth. They are disappointed to find that the coins aren't actually gold, but copper and only worth 30 cents each. They sell the coins to the collector for $3900, then agree to use the money as a down payment on an art center for Jo and her friends. Ted and Judd throw a benefit show at the end to raise more money for the building project. Ted ends the movie singing I'll Take Love

DVD - ELVIS PRESLEY JAILHOUSE ROCK

(original 1957 black & white movie, with trailers & other extras...
Widely considered the greatest rock musical of all time, Jailhouse Rock combines elements of the classic juvenile-delinquent cautionary tale with a fascinating look at early rock-'n' -roll. Its main draw is the charismatic presence of Elvis Presley, alluringly moody as Vince Everett, a construction worker sent to prison when a bar fight turns fatal. He goes in a decent if hotheaded kid and comes out a hard-as-nails ex-con. Managing to parlay a knack for music into rock stardom, Everett nearly destroys his life with his narcissistic behavior. Of course, all his destructiveness only makes Everett one of the sexiest characters Presley ever played. The film boasts a variety of bluesy Elvis tunes, and Mike Stoller -- who penned many of Presley's best songs along with Jerry Lieber -- appears in a cameo as a piano player. The showstopper, though, is Jailhouse Rock itself, as exuberant, gorgeous, and sublimely ridiculous a wide-screen musical sequence as anyone could want

DVD - ELVIS PRESLEY KING CREOLE

(original 1958 black & white movie with trailer
Elvis Presley delivers one of his finest early performances in King Creole. Elvis plays a teenager named Danny Fisher, who is forced to drop out of school to help support his ineffective father (Dean Jagger). Drawn to trouble like a magnet, Danny is saved from a jail term by New Orleans salloonkeeper Charlie Le Grand (Paul Stewart), who gives the boy a job as a singer. It isn't long, however, before local gang boss Maxie Fields (Walter Matthau), a shadowy figure from Danny's criminal past, puts the muscle on the boy, insisting that Danny sing at his establishment. To lure Danny to his side of the fence, Maxie relies upon the seductive charms of his gun moll Ronnie (Carolyn Jones), while Danny's true love Nellie (Dolores Hart) suffers on the sidelines. In addition to the expected musical numbers (which are cleverly integrated into the storyline), the film's highlight is a brief exchange of fisticuffs between Elvis and Walter Matthau. Together with Jailhouse Rock, King Creole is one of the best filmed examples of the untamed, pre-army Elvis Presley. The picture was adapted from Harold Robbins' novel A Stone for Danny Fisher

Soundtrack
The soundtrack songs were recorded at MGM Studios in Culver City, California in June 1967. Included is Nancy Sinatra's rendition of Your Groovy Self and her duet with Presley, There Ain't Nothing Like A Song, the only time a non-Elvis track was allowed on one of his soundtrack albums. The music album was released in June of 1968 to coincide with the motion picture. This was the last Presley film to have a full soundtrack album (not counting the later Elvis: That's the Way it Is concert film), and in fact is the only one of Presley's last six acting films to be given that honor. The soundtrack LP was also the last Presley album to be released in both stereo and mono editions, as mono musical releases were finally phased out by RCA. The extremely rare mono album (LPM-3989) can fetch four figures in excellent condition and has become a sought-after item among die-hard Elvis collectors. The soundtrack album is also noted as being the final Presley album release prior to NBC-TV Special, which is acknowledged as the start of his so-called 1968 Comeback, which marked a modernizing of arrangements and song choice for him. The film takes place in a small Iowa town in 1927. A traveling chautauqua company arrives in the town, but internal squabbles create friction amidst the troupe. The new manager, Walter Hale (Elvis Presley), is trying to prevent Charlene, the troupe’s “Story Lady” (Marlyn Mason), from recruiting the performers to form a union.
Meanwhile, the town has a scandal following the murder of the local pharmacist Wilby (Dabney Coleman). Although a shady gambler is arrested, Walter realizes that the real killer is Nita (Sheree North), one of Wilby’s employees. Walter successfully gets Nita to confess during a chautauqua performance, where she makes public the sexual harassment that Wilby directed at her.
