EDDIE COCHRAN - STRING FEVER - THE INSTRUMENTALS (32 rockin' guitar instros - This new CD courtesy of Rockstar Records is the first all instrumental collection by Eddie Cochran. Eddie was mainly known for his rock and roll classics, such as Summer Time Blues, C’mon Everybody and Somethi n’ Else which did not highlight his instrumental ability. Some of these recordings feature legendary studio musicians including Earl Palmer, Plas Johnson and Connie Smith. Many of the instrumentals, for example, Guybo, Strollin’ Guitar and Scratchin’ feature Eddie playing all the instruments by a series of over dubs. We have also included several backing tracks and rare items for the first time. Eddie toured the UK in the early part of 1960, during this time he appeared on the BBC radio show Saturday Club and the Boy Meets Girl TV shows. During this period he worked with some of the best musicians of this time such as Big Jim Sullivan and Joe Brown. Unfortunately Eddie lost his life due to a car accident on the way back to London Airport on the 17th April 1960. Joe Brown and Big Jim Sullivan passed on many of Eddie’s pioneering guitar techniques to other UK musicians over the years. LOS FANTASTICOS - INTO THE INFINITY TUNNEL (Formed in 2004, Los Fantasticos are not exactly the world's hardest working guitar instrumental band. Nevertheless, their blend of twanging, reverb-heavy guitars, pounding drums, skittering bass rhythms and just a hint of Mariachi trumpet has earned them plaudits in many of the right places. 2005 also saw the release of Los Fantasticos debut album Ceasare Gorgeous Presents... Return Of The Leopard Man (Hang9). 'A delight to hear,' cooed Pipeline Instrumental Review. 'This is one of the best debut albums we've heard in like, forever,' swooned 'New' Gandy Dancer. In 2006, Los Fantasticos returned with their second album, simply entitled Los Fantasticos (Hang9): '...this excellent set,' according to Pipeline, 'Excellent musicianship,' so say 'New' Gandy Dancer and, 'There's lots here for the open-minded,' if we are to believe the esteemed Mr Dirt. Early 2009 saw the release of the Further Beyond The Sea compilation (Cordelia Records) featuring the band's version of Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out Of My Head. The third Los Fantasticos album Into The Infinity Tunnel With Los Fantasticos, was released in September 2009. 'Wow! Into The Infinity Tunnel With Los Fantasticos is amazing! THE ROYALTONES - DETROIT ROCK 'N' ROLL BEGAN HERE (already deleted - last few copies available) (Ace is proud to launch a new series for collectors. The Deluxe series will be a strictly limited run of 1000 CDs for sale. You'll notice the increased retail price, but all the releases in this series would not be able to be released without it. We kick off with the Royaltones, the band that began the careers of legendary Detroit musicians George Katsakis, Dennis Coffey and Bob Babbitt. This is where white Detroit rock 'n' roll began. The groups had a US Top Twenty hit in 1958 with 'Poor Boy', a Number 82 US hit with 'Flamingo Express' in 1961 and a regional hit with 'Your Faded Love' in 1964 (also recorded as a vocal by Bobby Rydell). They backed up Del Shannon on several of his hits including 'Keep Searchin' and 'Little Town Flirt'. Group member George Katsakis played sax on Jack Scott's early 'Leroy' and 'My True Love' records. Dennis Coffey played on eleven of The Royaltones' 45 while renowned bass player Bob Babbitt also played on twenty-four of the band's 45s. The Royaltones recorded 26 tracks during their six-year career. The releases were on the Jubilee, Penthouse, Goldisc, Mala, Twirl and Warwick labels.
