The main tracks are the hit versions originally recorded for the Swan label, alongside four recorded in the mid-'60s on Warner Bros and one released in 1981 on the Miasound label. Definitive versions of Palisades Park, Abigail Beecher, and Action sound great remastered, as do the more obscure numbers like Twistin' All Night Long, from 1962 featuring Danny the Juniors and Let's Put the Fun Back in Rock N Roll, recorded in 1981 with the Belmonts. Although only 21 years of age when he died (in a car smash in April 1960), Eddie Cochran was one of the most important artists of the R&R era - most notably as an inventive, influential guitarist. Like Buddy Holly, who died a year earlier, Eddie was one of the first Rock & Rollers to experiment in the studio with overdubbing techniques, and he was also active as a writer, producer, arranger and session musician. Also like Holly, Cochran wrote many of his own hits, including such pivotal R&R anthems as 'Twenty Flight Rock', 'Summertime Blues', 'C'mon Everybody', 'Somethin' Else', 'Three Steps To Heaven', and 'My Way'. Alongside his celebrated hits are many collectors' rarities together with alternate takes and demos. This unique compilation spanning a massive 64 tracks traces Eddie's career from a couple of his earliest, mid-50s C&W sides through to his all-too brief career as a R&R icon. EDDIE COCHRAN - ROCKIN' IT WITH (Recordings from 1954 to 1960... On 16th April 1960 Rock n’ Roll lost one of its major pioneers when Eddie Cochran died in a car crash at the end of an eleven week UK tour. Eddie was backed by the best of the new British rock musicians including, Joe Brown and Marty Wilde’s Wild Cats, ''Big'' Jim Sullivan, Brian Locking, Tony Belcher and Brian Bennett. During the tour Eddie showed these young rockers some licks and tricks including, tuning variations and foot pedal effects, which were all new at the time. EDDIE COCHRAN - STRING FEVER - THE INSTRUMENTALS (32 rockin' guitar instros - This new CD courtesy of Rockstar Records is the first all instrumental collection by Eddie Cochran. Eddie was mainly known for his rock and roll classics, such as Summer Time Blues, C’mon Everybody and Somethi n’ Else which did not highlight his instrumental ability. Some of these recordings feature legendary studio musicians including Earl Palmer, Plas Johnson and Connie Smith. Many of the instrumentals, for example, Guybo, Strollin’ Guitar and Scratchin’ feature Eddie playing all the instruments by a series of over dubs. We have also included several backing tracks and rare items for the first time. Eddie toured the UK in the early part of 1960, during this time he appeared on the BBC radio show Saturday Club and the Boy Meets Girl TV shows. During this period he worked with some of the best musicians of this time such as Big Jim Sullivan and Joe Brown. Unfortunately Eddie lost his life due to a car accident on the way back to London Airport on the 17th April 1960. Joe Brown and Big Jim Sullivan passed on many of Eddie’s pioneering guitar techniques to other UK musicians over the years.
